Introduce to students the general aspects of plant disease epidemiology, emphasizing disease assessment and tools available for disease quantification, as well as the analysis and interpretation of epidemic progress. Focus will also be given on the dispersal of plant pathogens and its consequences in the development of epidemics. An overview of the principles of integrated management of plant diseases will be presented. Furthermore, the main control methods employed for disease management as known the genetic, chemical, physical, biological, regulatory and cultural practices will be addressed. Finally, an overview of how can be effectively implemented the integrated management of diseases caused by bacteria, fungi, nematodes and viruses will be discussed.
Objectives
Objetivo Geral:
Provide students with the basic knowledge needed to understand the factors involved in the development of plant diseases epidemics and, based on this knowledge, the student will be able to structure efficient and sustainable management programs to control the diseases.Conteúdo Programático
