Ementa

Critical reading of and evaluating scientific papers are some of the most important long-term skills required for success in science, both during and after graduate training. The graduate program "Journal Club" format will teach the elements that make for careful reading and critical thinking of scientific papers

Objectives

Objetivo Geral:

To become familiar with the scientific literature and with different styles of scientific writing
and with the components of a good abstract, introduction, methods, results, and discussion section of a paper

Conteúdo Programático

Theory:
1. Introduction to scientific literature and styles. Selection of subject areas.
2. How to present a paper to the Journal Club.
3. Subject areas (4 in total) – 4 papers/area.
Virtual classes:
1. Online searches for relevant scientific papers.
2. Critical reading of relevant scientific papers.
3. Written exercises based on subject areas and selected papers.
